Kabelo Maaka is an Animation Director, 2D Animator, Illustrator, Podcaster & Animation lecturer with 6 years' experience in various aspects of the animation pipeline. She is a visionary with a warm and infectious personality. She made her debut as a director with her short film “3 Teaspoons of Sugar” in November 2019. She has since directed 2 more short films “When It’s Risky” and “The Little Teaspoon of Sugar” both released in 2021. Kabelo has also acted as mentor in the first Cabblow Studios Virtually Animation Residency guiding 5 young directors as they each produced their first animation short film.
Kabelo is truly a game changer, ranking amongst the winners of the Mail & Guardian 200 Young South African Awards 2021 under the Film & Media category.
